God Hand

I’ve spent a few moments wondering how I should start this review, and I realize that there is only one way that makes sense to me right now. God Hand is without a doubt the best game I have ever played. It is that simple. Now, God Hand is a game that fell way under the radar, hated by mainstream videogame sites everywhere, praised till no end by the hardcore. I myself knew nothing of the game until a month before it’s European release. I only had a couple videos of the game in action and the fact it was produced by Shinji Mikami to go by.

Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure

by Billy Jay Bob Johnathon III – March 23, 2009

Oh my god bro, this game, it’s like far too awesome for words. You see, you’re this guy called Henry Hatsworth, and he’s all British and proper and shit. He’s like holding a motherfucking tea cup in one hand and one of those bad ass explorer swords in the other on the cover. Come on bro! Does it get any better than this? Guess what; it does! The game even has a puzzle for you to play on the touchscreen too! So yeah anyway let’s talk about this game. You play Henry Hatsworth right, and he’s like this Professor, but not one of those boring ones, he’s like Indiana Jones, bro, he spends all his time kicking other peoples asses! I am going to have to call this one of the best games ever already, I just knew from watching the trailer on youtube and reading comments like “This is the best DS game ever” that I just had to buy this right away.

I can’t stand this game, I really can’t. If you can even call it that. Game Center CX Arino no Chousenjou aka Retro Game Challenge has to be one of the most cynical videogame cash-ins I’ve seen for quite some time. It’s not one of those shitty-word-coach-healthy-lifestyle-give up-smoking non-games aimed at your mother and sister. This actually happens to be aimed at actual gamers this time. So what exactly is so cynical about this compilation of Famiclones? It is the games themselves. Just give me a second to explain the inspiration for this title as it will lead to my following point.

Contra 4

By Mark P. – February 18, 2009

This is the story of how just over a year ago, Contra celebrated it’s 20th anniversary. So just how did Konami go about celebrating 20 years of 2D-platforming-shooting-action? The same way every other Japanese videogame company celebrates one of their most iconic videogame licenses; by entrusting an American shovelware company to develop the latest installment in the series. This isn’t much of a shock due to the fact Konami have outsourced the Contra series to unheard of Western developers before, the shock lies in the fact Konami haven’t really learned much from doing so in the past. So it would be WayForward Technologies to take the helm of development of Contra 4.
